TRUE HEROES

Heroes are made through a choice that they make,

It is their lives that they put at stake.

A total stranger is willing to help someone in need,

The dangers are minimal that they do not heed.

A hero is willing to give up his or her own soul,

A choice not lightly made once all is told.

They give you another chance to live once again,

It is your life they are trying to win.

A hero is someone who cares for life above all,

A person who hears the life giving call.

They want you to live and to go on,

As they sacrifice their life and now it is gone.

So remember these people who gave us a chance,

They are giving up their life for just a glance.

They belong in our hearts for as long as we live,

It’s the ultimate sacrifice they are willing to give.

So as I give thanks to all who are brave,

You made a difference your life that you gave.

Please accept this prayer I give unto thee,

I sit at your grave down on my knee.

One last thing before you take flight up above,

My hero you are the person of true love.

I cannot thank you enough for what you have done,

That is why your name I gave to my own son.

SOLDIER WITH NO NAME

An explosion rocks the truck and ground,

Men are killed and start falling down.

I look about and see devastation all over,

As the enemy starts plinking us from cover.

I run from the scene as fast as I can,

Not knowing if I am pursued by any man.

I know not where I will be going,

I run on blindly while my legs keep on flowing.

I find a tree from where I take aim,

I will kill those bastards if it is just the same.

I cannot let them take any of us away,

So I turn and fight as the night turns to day.

And then from behind I hear a yell to freeze me,

I turn to look and it is not what I wanted to see.

It is more of those enemy coming for us,

And one of them are driving a small mini bus.

I fall down and play dead just in case,

Maybe they will miss me and not see my face.

I have training to kill them one and all,

I am here to protect until the day that I fall.

I know when they come to take us from here,

They will torture us and bind us to draw out my fear.

I will never let them see me cringe in defeat,

And I vow to avenge my men on the street.

When they leave this place they cease to believe,

That someone’s alive with no time to grieve.

My training kicks in and I start to escape,

How much of this am I expected to take?

I find myself face down in the dessert of old,

My pride restored as I get up so bold.

I follow the tracks to where the men have been taken,

It is my honor that will never be forsaken.

I enter the compound where the men they are held,

I do what I can to save them from hell.

I vow to save them no matter the price,

My life is expendable though it doesn’t seem nice.

I saved my men from a certain doom and fate,

They are alive and healthy to date.

I am no hero just a man all the same,

I am the soldier without any name.
